Padua and home

After parting from Dave and Donella, wehad a pleasant evening and morning exploring in Venice, before taking the train to Padua.  We wanted to visit the Scrovegni chapel, which was entirely decorated with frescoes by Giotto in 1305.   Of course it was wonderful.

We made the trip home by various slow trains, but without major delays.  It was interesting to see that although we had enjoyed warm sun in Venice, round Bologna it was still winter, with the land covered with a blanket of snow.  We arrived in Barga at half past eight feeling rather as if we had paid a visit to another planet!
