Venice, Donella & Dave

Venice, and a rendezvous with Dave and Donella.  We were lucky with the weather, as we have been in the last two years, so "La Serenissima" was looking her best.  Also, it's carnival time, which in Venice means costumed citizens around every corner.

Our B&B was in the centre, right behind the Venice opera house - La Fenice -  and on a narrow canal kept busy both with workboats and gondolas - often with serenaders aboard.  Apparently it can get a bit cacophonous in the height of summer - with competing serenaders and untrained tourists joining in ...

Later, we peeked in at a couple of masqueraders in a late-night cafe
