Bagni di Lucca and Montefegatesi

Weather still good, though cold, so we drove down the valley to the once fashionable spa town of Bagni di Lucca (think Shelley, the Brownings and Byron). We then went high up to Montefegatesi, where there was still a lot of snow, but we were able to have a good walk to a point where we could see the sea, and islands among which was probably Elba.  We rather envied the young man who passed our picnic spot - descending rapidly - on crampons!

Despite the satellite dishes, this building in Bagni still has a je ne sais quoi ...
The original bath-house in Bagni, with its odd roof-lights
One of several horse sculptures on the grand stables building of Elisa Bonaparte, sister of Napoleon, from the days when she was Grand Duchess of Tuscany
Montefegatesi - archetypal Italian hill town
Barbara and Lynn in the snow - no crampons!
Still freezing cold where the sun don't shine ...

  1. I like the JE NE SAIS PAS QUOI building, seen it dozens of time but never thought of taking a picture, it is remarkable! and Montefegatesi, what a name, the liverly mountain!
