Pisa

We've never actually gone in to Pisa just to enjoy the town - usually we are meeting someone off a plane.  Today the intention was to visit the City art gallery, and if time permitted, go up the tower.  In the event, we had a nice lunch and missed the tower!  Next time ...

As winter advances, the remains of the kaki (persimmons) become more attractive.  A blackcap and a blue tit enjoy the feast - and stayed still just about long enough to be photographed ...
Pisa, the Arno (and Barbara) looking fine in the afternoon sun
Caged cyclamen brighten up a dour window on the way to the gallery
Unusually intense Madonna and child in the sculpture hall - 14th century
14th cent. wooden sculptures, many with movable limbs for us on stage in medieval theatre
a contrast of sacred and secular exhibits
In front of Cosimo di Medici in the Piazza dei Cavallieri
It is physically impossible not to take a photo of the tower - and flaunt it!
