On Monday, we went up the valley to Riana and walked to Treppignana - we've been there before, and they are good villages to visit on a sunny day in winter because they face the sun, as the many small vineyards attest. from these villages, across the valley, we could see as yet unvisited, what must be the villages of Perpoli and Fiattone and determined to go there soon - the next day in fact.
Last year we made an attempt to reach them, but were defeated by a one of the many landslides we had then. This time the road was in good order, but still very twisty and narrow. Once in Fiattone however, we found there was no road connection to Perpoli, which we could see above us. So, after getting directions from some workmen, we were able to head up on foot to our goal.
